Dissemination
Activities
Dissemination is a major focus for River
Valley Charter School. Educators from all over the world have
received copies of "Montessori Made Public," the
video that River Valley made in 2003 with the assistance of
a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Education. The
video introduces the Montessori philosophy and demonstrates
its application in three public school settings in the United
States.
In addition, our staff has made presentations
at regional and national conferences, and we have had many
visitors to our school to observe a “Montessori made
public” institution.
River Valley Charter School also hosts
graduate courses in conjunction with Salem State College.
In January 2006, "Using Literature Across the Curriculum"
was offered at RVCS. Course participants applied the concepts
of the course to working with children (grades K-6) enrolled
in an after-school program at River Valley Charter School.
Participants planned literature-based activities according
to children's interests.
