The Newburyport Montessori School will host What About Sleep?, a talk by sleep and parenting consultant Beth Grams Haxby, Ed.M. The event will be held in the Great Room at River Valley Charter School, 2 Perry Way, Newburyport, and is free and open to the public.
Is your child having sleep problems that keep the whole family awake? Are you having trouble sticking to consistent naptimes and bedtimes? Have you read parenting books but can't seem to find your child in them? Are you bumping up against developmental stages and feeling "stuck”? How much sleep is enough sleep? The sleep problems of infancy and early childhood represent some of the most significant challenges faced by parents. This presentation offers a look into the world of sleep science and research. Parents and caregivers will learn concrete strategies to help children get better sleep and will have opportunity to discuss their own sleep issues.
As a teacher of young children for more than 20 years, Haxby navigated the common concerns around sleep with hundreds of parents. She has a strong interest both in the importance of sleep for healthy development in babies and children and in the connections between lack of sleep and the development of learning disorders and ADHD.
